Re: Delete frames (Tecplot 360 EX 2016 R2)

I'm sorry about the difficulty you're having. We've added additional Delete options in Tecplot 360 2017 R2. In earlier versions you should be able to delete the frame by selecting the frame and pressing the Delete key should delete the frame. If this doesn't work you can also try using the macro com...

Re: Extract a surface from a 3D grid

If you're able to define an iso-value that conforms to the bottom of the grid you could then draw an iso-surface and extract that. Is that possible in your case?

Re: There is a strange line when exported as .wmf

We've noticed that results can vary depending on which application you're using to display the WMF file. I'd try opening the WMF file with a different application to see if you get the same result. If the issue persists, please contact our support staff.

Thanks!

Re: Add Legend to 3D Plot, how to?

Nils, This is the first time I've seen this use case. Unfortunately Tecplot 360 has no "line legend" for 3D plots. One "hack" would be to use your XY Line plot. You could set the Font units to "Points" for the Line Legend - this will make the legend a constant size rega...

Re: Cut 3D Volume by clipping

Simon, Unfortunately this capability has been removed from the user interface. We intend to bring this capability back to the user interface in the next couple releases. Thankfully, the feature still exists in the Macro language. You can activate clipping using the following macro: #!MC 1400 $!SLICE...

Re: Time Marker does not work

The time marker not updating is a bug. I don't recall when it was introduced, but we've resolved the issue with Tecplot 360 2017 R2 (released in April 2017).

Re: Add-on "Extract Precise Polyline" not working

That version of the extract precise polyline add-on is too old and will not work with Tecplot 360 2016. Extract Precise Polyline is included Tecplot 360 2017 R2 - you'll have to install that version to use this tool.

Re: The animate feature of the mac version does not work

I'm guessing that you're using Tecplot 360 2013 R1 (or earlier) on Windows. And Tecplot 360 EX 2014 R1 (or later) on Mac. Our next release of Tecplot 360 EX (coming in January) will reintroduce the animation capabilities. If you'd like early access to Tecplot 360 EX release you can join our Beta use...

Re: Fit Selected Frame to Workspace

Tecplot 360 EX is a complete rewrite of the user interface to a GUI framework called Qt. There are a number of items that haven't been ported over to our newest releases yet. We're working hard to reintroduce features. In the mean time you can add the following to your 'tecplot.mcr' file to get &quo...

Re: Polyline Data extraction

You're on the right track. Once you've extracted the polyline you can write the result to a file. For best results with Excel, go to "Tools->Write Data as Formatted Text". This will allow you to select the extracted polyline and the variables you want to write.

Re: where is "select all"?

This is one of the dialogs that hasn't been ported over to Tecplot 360 EX yet. I've made a note that you need this capability and will get it in the plan for 2016. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Re: Calculation of cell face area

Tecplot 360 has a "Cell Volume" calculation, which will calculate the cell area for surface data. This may be what you need? 1) Go to Analyze->Calculate Variables... 2) Click "Select..." on the Calculate dialog and pick "Cell Volume" from the list. 3) Change the New Var...

Re: Surface lines for CGNS?

akiss20,

You can edit auxiliary data directly via the "Data->Auxiliary Data..." dialog. You can also automate this by using the $!SETAUXDATA macro command.

Using either of these methods you should be able to avoid writing data out to ASCII.

Re: Pressure coefficient plot of a wing

There is a tutorial available which takes you through the steps to create a Cp plot. See: http://download.tecplot.com/360/tpgs.pdf

The relevant steps start on page 43 (section 3-5).
