Preplot in batch mode - parallel CPU's possible?

I have a user running preplot in batch on our HPC machine.

I know converting his ASCII files to data is slower than using binary. But his solver is what produces the data files.

Preplot is taking 72 hours to run... is there anyway to make preplot use additional CPU's or increase the threadcount?

Upgrade from 360_2013R1 to 360_2014_R2????

I am planning on upgrading the license server and the adding 2014R2 on our HPC Linux x86_64 machines. I already have a new license for the newest version.... My question is, will the 2013R1 run if I point it to the new license? The reason I ask I have users who don't have access to the new version a...

plotdat file?????

I have a user who inquired about a file named "plotdat" showing up in her out directories when she is running Tecplot. She does not save any out put with that name. The file is executable and is appearing in several locations where her outputs are. Is this some kind of temporary cache file...

Re: Animations using -mesa?????????

the developer of the Secure Remote Desktop concluded: "Something is going wrong in the way that Tecplot reads back the framebuffer to generate the movie. " But in our case, closing the remote display, then restarting a new terminal resolved the graphical/display issue. We were using Tecplo...

Re: Animations using -mesa?????????

Chris, I was trying both the default OpenGL startup and the -mesa to see if it made a difference. I was able to make a simple key-frame animation but the user then gave directions using time-slices....which fails on the compute nodes using the Secure Desktop. I can send an example of both.... how to...

Animations using -mesa?????????

I am having as problem starting Tecplot with the -mesa option, then creating a time-based animation. The AVI (or SWF, or FVL) format is rendered, but the image is corrupted or distorted. I know when I do not use the -mesa, the images (at least for AVI) are created normally and I am able to view them...

Re: Complete scripting example for the clueless?

Thanks Jim, I had a similar script, but the graphic did not plot right. Yours works great. I was able to make your example work with the latest Tecplot I have installed for Itanium (360 2010 Release 1, build 12.1.1.8788), but not 2008R1. I suspect some kind of issue with 2008. I'm also looking for a...

Complete scripting example for the clueless?

I manage an install of Tecplot (2010R1) and need a complete example of using tecplot in batch mode via script.. I am not a user, so some things I don't often do (get asked about) or have an example of. I found an example in the Scripting Guide and used it to load a data set (can't make available to ...
