Left hand coordinate system

Tecplot products use a right-hand coordinate system. A customer recently asked if it was possible to do a left-hand coordinate system. This is really simple:

Just switch your X and Y variables in the "Plot->Assign XYZ..." variable assignment dialog.

Re: animating 2 (or more) variables in an xy plot

Bill, It sounds to me like what you want to do is animate the XY Mappings by changing the zone assignment. This is different than the Animate->Mappings option. The Animate->Zones option is only available in 2D and 3D. The following is code for a python script which may help you. It will change the z...

Re: Export of a 2d contour fill plot with 2 color maps

Miha,

The bug has been fixed in Tecplot 360 2008, which is currently available.

Re: Export of a 2d contour fill plot with 2 color maps

I'm assuming you're using Tecplot 360 2006.

If so, this is a bug which was fixed in May 2007. Tecplot 360 2008 has the correct behavior.

Re: Adding toolbar buttons through add-on

Barry, We've already spoken on the phone, but I'll answer the questions here as a record. 1. Is it possible to add (or change callbacks for exisiting buttons) toolbar buttons through ADK in Tecplot 360-2008 ? No. The Toolbar in Tecplot 360 is fixed and an add-on may not change it. 2. Are there other...

Re: Maximum value of curve (not of data points)

Jan, You may also try writing out the curve points to a file, then parsing that file to determine the maximum. You python script would call: TecUtil.CurveWriteInfo(FileName, LineMapNumber, TecVals.CurveInfoMode_RawData) This will write the actual points that make up the curve (not the data p...

Re: Extended Character Set

pbrady,

This information is in section 23-1.3 of the Tecplot 360 User's Manual.

To use the extended character set you need to put a backslash in front of the number. For instance the copyright symbol ('C' with a circle around it) would be: \169

Re: Add-on: Extract Over Time

Stephanie, There is a difference between an extracted slice and a slice which is a Derived Object. The extracted slice becomes a zone, so it's not considered a slice at all. The Extract Over Time add-on operates on Derived Objects (Iso-Surfaces, Slices, Streamtraces). Activating a Derived Object may...

Re: making a 2d graph out of several contour plots

The Time Series Plot addon actually extracts data from your dataset to create a new dataset in the new frame. So that new frame created only contains the extracted data. You will not be able to switch between the time series plot and your 3D model in the time series frame. However your original fram...

Re: making a 2d graph out of several contour plots

These add-ons should work with Tecplot 360 R2 (build 11.0-4-084) and later. If your version of Tecplot 360 is earlier than that you will need to upgrade. That said, the error you're seeing with the timeseriesplot.dll is perplexing. What operating system are you running? What build of Tecplot 360 do ...

Re: Loading a op2 file from NASTRAN

There are two approaches you can take to quickly cycle through the zones in your dataset. 1) Use Animate->Zones... This gives you a dialog that allows you to step through the zones in your dataset. 2) Make your data transient and use Animate->Time... To do this you need to assign a StrandID and Solu...

Re: making a 2d graph out of several contour plots

If your data are transient then you might try the Time Series Plot add-on.

If your data are not transient you could make them transient by using the Strand Editor add-on.

Both of these add-ons will be included in Tecplot 360 2008.

Re: Error: (TECINI110) Cannot open plot file. Check permissi

Greg, I'll assume you're using Windows. What I think is happening here is that Tecplot has the PLT file open and you can't edit that file while Tecplot has it open. Just like when you have a Microsoft Word document open you can't delete it. The operating system puts a lock on it. The reason this doe...

Re: Animating 2d cartesian and related xy plot on same works

Durrani, The reason you had to change the ADDONID is because I wrote the macro using a newer version of the Extend Time MCR add-on which will be distributed with Tecplot 360 2008. Sorry for the inconvenience. Our email attachments are limited to 3Mb, so you'll have to FTP your file. Send me an email...

Re: Need help determining if text box exists

wes_k, Text can be a little challenging via the macro language. You're going down the right path with the $!PICK CLEAR idea. If this is the only piece of text the frame you could do the following: $!ATTACHTEXT TEXT="delete me" $!PICK ADDALL SELECTTEXT = YES $!PICK CLEAR This way you can cl...
