Fedora 10 installation

Postby jim » Tue Apr 07, 2009 3:14 pm

Grr.... Fedora 10 (possibly 9) changed the location it puts the standard C runtime libraries, but unlike SUSE 11, didn't set up links from /lib to /lib64. The effect is when installing Tecplot 2009 on a 64-bit Fedora 10 machine, the setup script will not recommend the best build for your system. If you don't catch it, you'll end up with "Linux 64 Kernel 2.6 or newer" (option 8, aka "linux64.26"), which will result in a runtime error because it's dependent upon an older version of libstdc++.

For this OS, what you want to install is "Linux 64 kernel 2.6/glibc 2.7 or newer" (option 10, aka linuxg27x64.26), which is built on a Fedora 8 machine.

This is fixed in 2009 release 2.
